It manages to keep lively and full of rich experiences every season. September, the first month of the fall, is the ideal time to visit Budapest if you are an oenophile. They have two wine festivals, a foodie festival, a marathon, and even a horse race. 
The Budapest National Gallop (Nemzeti Vágta) is scheduled for September 15-17 this year, the perfect time of the year. It will feature the Hungarian hussars in their stunning gold-braided uniforms, an international race, carriage gallop and relays, a vintage procession, and many other interesting events, including a spectacular high jump competition. On September 16., the National Gallop opens the gate of the Nation's Kitchen, where gastronomy enthusiasts are offered traditional food as well as Hungarian liquor and wine specialties. But the National Gallop is not the first event of the month with a foodie component. The Budafok Champagne and Wine Festival is an annual celebration that marks the end of the summer. It is held in Budafok-Tétény, traditionally a wine trade center with a vast cellar system. Entrance is free, but wine samples are available for a charge (a tasting glass is HUF 600). At its 28th edition in 2017, it takes place in the first weekend of September. Then, there's the Budapest Wine Festival on Castle Hill from September 7 till 10. The guest country of the festival this year is Chile, so, besides authentic Hungarian vintages, you can also sample the best Chile has to offer. Even if you are not the wine expert, the ambiance and the programs guarantee an unforgettable time spent in Budapest. They have wine tastings, live folk dance shows, music, a food that pairs well with the libations. Don't miss the annual harvest parade, which marches from the Matthias Chruch to the royal palace to culminate in a party into the night. 
Budapest Borfesztivál harvest parade. On September 10, 2017, you can attend or witness the 32nd Wizz Air Budapest Half Maraton. According to the organizers, participating in the marathon is essentially a sightseeing tour. Finally, another event you may not want to miss, Édes Napok Budapest - the "Sweet Days" of the city, Budapest's annual Chocolate and Candy Festival. The country's largest sweets event is at its 7th edition this year and you can attend it at Szent István tér on September 16 to 18. At the festival, you will meet some of the country's finest pastries, chocolate and candy makers, and taste their exquisite creations paired with noble wines and other drinks.
