Prague / Czech Republic / September 3, 2014

The 9th year of the competition King of Wine 2014 culminated in Clarion Congress Hotel Prague. The ceremonial Representative King's Tasting was held there as winemakers received their awards and certificates from the hands of the competition organiser Branko Černý. The winner was "Ryzlink vlašský 2013", ice wine from the wine-growing area of Tanzberg Mikulov. The event was supported by the Wine Fund of the Czech Republic and held under the auspices of Prague 9 mayor Jan Jarolím.

A total of 120 Bohemian and Moravian winemakers participated in this year's King of Wine and they nominated a record of 900 wine samples.  Guests at the King's Tasting had an opportunity to taste a selection of not only medal-awarded wines but also those which had not received an award but which generally gained a positive result. After the results were announced and raffle winners were drawn out of over 200 guests, a well-selected buffet prepared by Clarion Congress Hotel Prague was presented. "Considering the fact there is a vineyard called Máchalka located in Vysočany, I dare say with a little exaggeration that the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague with its location is an ideal place for organising the King's Tasting. I believe everyone was satisfied,"  said Miroslav Bukva, hotel director at the Clarion Congress Hotel, with a smile.
