Clarion Congress Hotel České Budějovice organised a charity run to the hotel rooftop. The proceeds will be donated to the Nursery for Blind and Weak-Sighted Children in České Budějovice. The sporting event, held under the auspices of the Municipal Charity Organisation of České Budějovice, was attended by, for example, the ice-hockey champion Jiří Novotný, native of České Budějovice, and Jiří Zimola, Governor of the South Bohemia region.
Approximately 130 runners conquering the 365 steps to the top were rewarded by the unforgettable vista from the Clarion hotel roof. The hotel is the second tallest building in town after the Black Tower. “The idea of a sporting event with a charity aspect existed for a long time. I must say that the raised amount of CZK 16,549 was a positive surprise and convinced us that it is worth holding another event of this kind again next year”, said Martin Štolka, managing director of Clarion Congress Hotel České Budějovice. The participants in the race, where the entire starting fee was donated towards the purchase of aids for blind and weak-sighted children, included 113 adults and 17 children. The youngest runner was 2 and a half years old and the oldest participant reaching the hotel rooftop after running up all of the 17 floors was 61 and a half.
